A three-year program, primarily funded by John Templeton Foundation, to promote character development in Jewish communities through mindfulness and tikkun middot practice. Participating communities include synagogues, seminaries, Hillels and Federations, led by alumni of the Institute’s long-term cohorts.
This mindful Jewish education program is intended for educators and youth at Jewish day schools, supplementary schools, and other Jewish educational settings that reach youth. EJSL supports Jewish educators to deepen their personal Jewish mindfulness practice and teach Jewish mindfulness practices to their students in an age-appropriate, fun manner to foster attention, resilience, well-being, and Jewish spiritual engagement. After participation in a single semester of mindfulness meditation training in a Jewish framework, participating educators are invited to deepen their toolkit by learning how to apply their skills to middot (character refinement) work and mindful Jewish prayer, both in their personal practice and in with their students.
